For grins did you get a chance to turn up diag logging for the
following and see if anything sticks out? Are you transaction logs and
or message tracking logs are growing in parallel to the DB?

I already had those on.
I *think* we may have figured it out, but maybe you can help me
understand why.
A message came in that was destined for the archive mailbox. For some
reason that message was queued which generated a delay notification
from exchange. This went back to the mail gateway which again tried to
make a bcc of the delay message back to the archive mailbox, which
generated another delay message... and so on....
However. None of these extra messages ever showed up in the mailbox,
just the first one which was stuck in queue still. Does exchange not
treat notifications as regular messages? Is it possible that it only
displayed it in the mailbox as a single item even though it was
generating them every second?
I changed the rule so that it no longer BCCs anything from postmaster.
The memory fragmentation errors stopped, the memory usage is normal,
and the edb file stopped growing.
Keep in mind that I've *fixed* this all once before so that may not
have been the exact issue. Can anyone shed any light on this to help
me understand why I didn't see this loop occurring?
