thanks for the reply
yes database and logs verified with eseutil
since last post i tried a setup /disasterRecovery, but did not clean out
the old mdbdata directory,
and got exact same errors.
it looks like i will have to try a /disasterRecovery with blank data, see if
exchange at least comes up there
then try for a restore either from .pst's or store files
any suggestions how to get eseutil working, for the repair options. i can't
get around the callback error no matter what jcb.dll
i use?

How have you verified the database and logs?

thanks for your reply
neither one of those is an option for me
since the last post i have verified both the data base and the logs, does
that significantly narrow the
error possibilities and make a fix more doable?
this is a very small operation, only 5 small accounts. i have seen
articles that i can reinstall exchange, of
course completely eliminating the current stores, but effectively
rebuilding them from pst files for all
the accounts. since i have so few accounts techically it would seem
doable.
any comments about if that actually works and/or how well it works?

At this point I have two recommendations from which you can choose.
1. Call Microsoft CSS and open a support ticket. This will cost you
money. If anyone can salvage what you have, they can.
2. Restore from backup.

sbs2003 exch 6.5
the server had power outtage and the apc didn't bring it down softly,
as a result,
had to reinstall iis and exchange is not coming up, i've been down a
lot of roads and not getting too far, hoping for some help or ideas to
try
-the ms exch information store starts
-i cannot mount either the public store or mailbox store (mapi call
'openMsgStore' failed-the ms exch computer is not available.....) keep
getting this msg once a minute in the application log. this exchange is
on the local server, not trying to the mount on a remote exch
installation
-best practices report has 1 critical, see below and i can't seem to
find anything about addressing it other than it happens where upgrading
from 2003 to 2007
Server PMCC-SERVER is a routing group master but a connection to port
691 cannot be established from the workstation where this tool is
running.
- the trouble shooting assitant reports that both the public store and
private store have a clean shutdown. i tried to also run eseutil, but
keeps giving the callback error, i have the same jcb.dll in the bin and
sys32, its version 6.5.7638.2, aarghhhhhhhhhh
- when i try to run isinteg, i get: 'Isinteg cannot initiate
verification process. Please review the log file for more
information' - but there is no log file, aarghhhhhhh
-i did get a priv1+pub1.integ.raw files in the bin folder. they have
dirty shutdown messages, and lots of dbtime is larger database dbtime
messages, like thousands of those
any help where to start would be greatly appreciated, especially
resolving the best practices critical error about port 691
bob
