Re: Can't find the distribution group I created in Exchange 2007

Are you sure AD (either using AD tools or using Exchange 2007 mgmt tools) let you create one?
As far as I can tell, you cannot create another object - group or user - using the same sAMAccountName (Interactive).

Thanks - what should I do now that I've messed up and created an interactive distribution group?

You are right on!

The "group" Interactive exists in the Configuration container:
cn=WellKnown Security Principals, cn=Configuration, dc=<forestRootDomain>

It includes all users who have logged on interactively. Membership is controlled by the operating system.

isn't that a special/built-in group?

Strange thing - I can create other groups of any name - it just doesn't like Interactive

Do you remember in which OU/container it was created?
Can you find it using ADSIEdit?
Any permissions modified for the OU/container?

Hello,

I'm running Exchange 2007 with all the patches. I've created distribution groups a long time ago when I set up the server (perhaps I've forgotten how). I opened up exchange managemence console and went to recipient configuration and distribution groups. I went to create a new one called Interactive. It said it created it but it doesn't show. I tried to recreate it but it says the group already exists. I went to AD and did a search and it can't find interactive either. I tried to create it through AD and it says it already exists even though when I searched the entire AD it couldn't find it.

I've closed and reopened both EMC and AD - still doesn't show in either.
