Could be - I didn't know that. I figured if it was something I shouldn't
try to do it would just say that group is in use before I tried to create
it.

Do you remember in which OU/container it was created?
Can you find it using ADSIEdit?
Any permissions modified for the OU/container?

Hello,
I'm running Exchange 2007 with all the patches. I've created
distribution groups a long time ago when I set up the server (perhaps
I've forgotten how). I opened up exchange managemence console and
went to recipient configuration and distribution groups. I went to
create a new one called Interactive. It said it created it but it
doesn't show. I tried to recreate it but it says the group already
exists. I went to AD and did a search and it can't find interactive
either. I tried to create it through AD and it says it already exists
even though when I searched the entire AD it couldn't find it.
I've closed and reopened both EMC and AD - still doesn't show in
either.
