I have beeing trying to do this for 2 weeks now and been unsuccessful. I can
not get NTBackup to see the Exchange 2007 information store.
Where did you get the 64 bit versions of: ntbackup.exe and more
importantly, ntmsapi.dll and vssapi.dll ? I can not find them on the
Microsoft site or on the installation CD

We are removing all Windows 2003 servers soon at both companies, and
so last night I tried the ntbackup hack in which you copy 64bit
versions of ntbackup.exe, ntmsapi.dll and vssapi.dll to a folder on
your Windows Server 2008/Exchange 2007 server, and run/backup as one
normally would with Server/Exchange 2003. Well, I ran these two
separate backup jobs and all seemed to go well as far the backup and
verify according to the reports. Another site reported that they have
tested numerious backups and restores and all works well.
Does anyone know of any downside to this approach besides not being
officially supported? I gather this basically is the same as using the
remote store option from a Wiindows 2003 server to backup Exchange
2007 remotely.
Thanks,
Max
