Thanks for your response.
Yes you are correct. SurfControl sits on port 25 so all mail coming in and
going out goes through it. On the way in, it filters and then all mail deemed
as being ok is sent on to exchange on port 26. Likewise with outgoing mail,
exchange pushes it to SurfControl which then sends out.
SurfControl and Exchange sit on the same server. When I did a reboot from
that server I could telnet to mx1.hotmail.com and SurfControl could send
e-mail fine. But then after a few minutes something then stops it. The telnet
session disconnects and SurfControl can no longer connect to ANY mail server.
EventViewer shows nothing to help, there were some errors which I have dealt
with but none of those seems to be the issue. Something causes it to stop and
I just cannot find anything to tell me what.
Any ideas?
