Exc20007-Can't Pop3

Hi All,
I ran into a strange problem that I hope someone can help me with. I
am not an Exchange guru by any means, but I have been managing a
single Exchange 2007 box for about 6 months now. I have been syncing
my mail account with both Outlook 2007 and a Windows Mobile 6 cell
phone via POP3, and all has been working perfectly.
Due to a hard disk crash on my laptop, I had to reinstall XP and
Office 200 over the weekend. I am now trying to reconfigure my mail
settings on the laptop, but each attempt at testing the credentials in
Outlook simply pops up the authentication screen, over and over and
over. For some reason the username and password aren't accepted,
although I have tried username, domain\username, username@domain, all
to no avail.
Also, due to initial certificate issues I had to disable SSL, and it
still remains this way. I can telnet to port 110 to the server
without issue. My WM6 phone still syncs the account fine, and I can
login to the OWA page without issues, it's only on this fresh Windows
and Outlook installation that the problem appears. Finally, not that
this matters, but I just noticed that each attempt at testing the
account settings is sending a message, even though the POP3 login
attempt fails.
Help, I'm stuck! Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
.
