I'm presuming they had one already. When you moved the mailbox, the next
time Outlook was launched, it should have found it automatically.

Make sure Outlook is connected & not working offline/disconnected.

It wouldn't, unless you performed an offline defrag. But you
shouldn't need to do this - Exchange will reuse the whitespace.

Secondly, the backup performed successfully last night, yet no log
files were purged? Any idea why?

Check your backup config & your backup logs....
