Re: User emails to be relayed not delieverd

I see; this is usually a situation where consultants are granted
accounts to access resources but no mailbox. The consultant has a
personal E-mail box somewhere else; in this instance you can do this:

1. Create user account; but no mailbox (you have this)
2. Right click the user Exchange Tasks; establish E-mail
3. Give an email address of consultant@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
4. Go to the E-mail addresses tab; make sure primary Email address is
consultant@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and a secondary address of
consultant@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

When you send an email to consultant@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx either from
internally or externally it will get forwarded to his personal E-mail
address.

If this is not exactly what you're trying to achieve let me know.

Thanks James,

On the domain there is a User Account for a user that doesn't reside on the
LAN, his access will be purely through OpenVPN and accessing Domain
resources. This user therefore has a AD user account.

All the emails for the email domain (ex mydomain.com) will collectored by a
hosted service. The emails for the users on the domain are downloaded
independently, Site one collects emails for site 1 users, and Site 2 polls
the server for emails for Site 2 users.

Emails for the remote user are not collected by the servers. They are
collected by the user directly from the hosted server.

When an email is sent to this user through Exchange the email is returned
with an undeliverable message, as there is no user with a mailbox on this
(or site2's) Exchange server. Therefore, any email sent to this user from
within the domain should be sent to the smarthost for delivery to the hosted
server.

Hope that makes sense :S

Can you explain what you are trying to do or end goal; there may be an
alternative to what you're trying to do.

There is one user that has a user account in AD, but does not have a
mailbox. I want any email sent to this user forwarded to the smarthost
configured in the SMTP Connector. I have both Exchange Servers in the
Local
Bridgeheads for check if the user is local or on site2, failing that pass
the email to the smarthost.

Is it possible to specify that the local users email should be smtp
forwarded to the smarthost? (even though that user is on the same email
domain).

Thanks
