Re: SSL certificate requirements for OE Express client...

Sorry, I got it working... I just realized that when you change the
requirement to SSL it uses port 993 which was not being allowed through our
firewall. It works now.

However, I do have another question.

I suspect I am going to have to inform our dealer who will be using this
IMAP account that they have to purchase their own certificate to install for
Outlook Express on their computer correct? Then on my Exchange server I
would configure it to 'Require client certificate'?

If it is left at "ignore client certificate' does that basically negate any
security that purchasing and installing an SSL certificate on my Exchange
server gives you in the first place?

I have just purchased and installed a new SSL certificate on my Exchange
2000 server. Now, on the Outlook Express client that is accessing this
exchange server remotely using an IMAP connection, I am getting an error
when trying to refresh the mail folders - and it refers to an SSL problem.
I have configured the incoming mail server to "Require a secure connection"
by checking the associated box. Do I also have to install a certificate on
this client?

What am I missing?

It was all working just fine before I had the requirement for an SSL
certificated.

PS.... On my Exchange Server I also have it configured to required and SSL
Certificate (128 bit encrypotion minimum is checked) in the 'Certificates'
area of the IIS MMC snap in.
