First of all I would say that you should buy an Exchange 2007 book or do an
Exchange 2007 course.
Anyhow:
The setup looks at the Active Directory!
Because there are numerous entries about your Exchange server there.
You can try to remove this entries with adsiedit.
There are kb-articles about this.
If you want to reinstall the server you can try do do it with running: setup
/mode:recoverserver
Exchange 2007 doesn't expire after 120 days, it merely gives a nag screen
every time you start up the console.

Hello,.
A couple things. First, Please inform your sales people and techs that when
exchange 2007.iso is downloaded, it doesn't come with the key preloaded. But
the key is given at some point in the download process. Without the key, it
counts down 120 days.
I called several techs and none new where to get the key. So I tried to
uninstall exchange 2007. Oh what a joy!!! It wouldn't let me uninstall
without the magic below which I found too late.
Open Exchange 2007 management shell (CMD line) and type following commands:
Get-PublicFolder -server xxxxx "\" -Recurse -ResultSize:Unlimited |
Remove-PublicFolder -server xxxxx
-Recurse -ErrorAction:SilentlyContinue
Get-PublicFolder -Server xxxxx "\Non_Ipm_Subtree" -Recurse
-ResultSize:Unlimited | Remove-PublicFolder
-Server xxxxx -Recurse -ErrorAction:SilentlyContinue
Replace xxxxx with your Exchange server name in the above command.
Anyhow, I renamed the microsoft folder thinking that I could reinstall. No,
it just removed the uninstall option from Add/Remove Programs.
So now, I can't install and I can't uninstall, I can't get a key. So I turn
to MSCIUU which sucessfully removes something but not whatever it takes to
reinstall. So, I delete the Microsoft folder and delete the databases and any
other related files I can find. Now the setup on the disk won't even start.
So I hack all the exchange out of the registry. But the setup still just sits
there and stairs at me.
Now that I am watching my hard configuration work of the last four days get
wiped out by a format, And now that I have all kinds of free time while I
watch the formatting and reinstall, I figured I'd recap the fun I've been
having. And, maybe ask this question.
Does service pack 1 fix this awful uninstall process? Also, What did I have
to kill off to be able to reinstall? What is the setup.exe looking for? Once
I renamed the Microsoft folder, the setup wouldn't even start. Even after I
cleaned out the registry and all the Exchange files, Setup wouldn't start.
What does it take to kill this program?
Ok, The login screen is back and now I have to redo my last four days of
work. So, I gotta go. I hope you enjoyed the reading.
Thanks for your help.
