Re: SMTP

Currently using 4 Exchange Servers in the same Administrative Group,
using exchange 2003.
Currently we have two connector which we used to send emails, one is for all
mail & second one for specofic emails such as yahoo, gmail which is defined
in address tab.
Now i want to add one more connection but only for 2nd server which is works
as a backend, but problem is after creating of new smtp for 2nd server it
suppose to go from 2nd server only but all mail goes from 1st connector only
which is defined for first exchange server.
Last & final thing which i want is if one connector goes down it should
another connector.

Please let me these are the things possible or not, it looks like possible
but i dont know how.

Thanks for help in advance.

Hi there,

Are the 4 Exchange Servers in the same Site and/or Administrative Group?
Version of Exchange?

You do not mention which are mailbox servers (commonly referred to as
backends) and which are frontends (non mailbox servers).

You do not need an SMTP connector in Exchange 2003 to be able to send
mail, however one is advisable as it allows you to refine your routing.

SMTP connectors = send mail
SMTP virtual servers = recieve mail

Advise on your configuration so we can help further.
