I have SBS 2003 with Exchange 2003 sp2 and it works fine with exception of a
special app that uses SMTP to transmit message to our branch offfices. This
had been working fine for about 2 months and now the messages seem to be
hanging somewhere. When it first occurred they were stuck in the IMF and I
unblocked them.
Check the SMTP protocol log on the sender's side to see what's going
on. If it's your app that's sending directly, without using a local
SMTP server, then check whatever the app is using to record it's
activity.
You can also check the SMTP protocol log on the Exchange server to see
whether there are 4xx status codes.
