Re: need help restoring exchange store from backup

Thanks for posing. I had restored from a previous backup (wednesday night) I
got an error during hard recovery, but was able to mount the DB and get it
going again.

esentially I went to the directory where the restore.env file was and ran
eseutil.exe /cc.

I got an error saying it didn't run correctly, but was still able to mount
the store, and everything from Wednesday was there.

Ok this all started today when I noticed that the server I am responsible
for had shutdown unexpectedly. (windows sbs 2003 up to date with service
packs and critical updates) I rebooted and everything was fine, but I
noticed the nightly backup wasn't run. So I decided to do a backup of the
system state and exchange store ( ntbackup.exe through "standard
management"
GUI ).

During the verify stage the server locked up to a black screen and would
not
respond. I tried connecting in remotely, but to no avail. All of the
users
docs were still active ( my docs and desktop are redirected to the
server),
but after about 10 minutes, everyone lost connection to the server. So I
force the server to restart, and run a check disk , which reports
everything
healthy ( btw it's a raid array, but both drives are healthy and array is
running normal )

After the server booted up I noticed that exchange was unable to mount
the
store. The error message at start up was:

I attempted to recover from Wednesday night's backup.

I followed the article here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124040.aspx

I stopped exchange related services, and made a copy of mbdata to the
desktop. I started exchange services, and began restore (ntbackup.exe).
Restore was successfull (I made sure I checked the box to allow the db to
be
overwritten, and "last restore set" options.

Replay started and then the following error:

I tried restoring again, this time not checking the option for "last
restore
set", but got the following errors:

I tried running eseutil /cc on the restored temp folder c:\temp & get the
same error warning.

So, Short of exporting everyones local cached version and connecting them
to
pop3 (we use and outside host for reasons like this ), what can I do to
get
the information store mounted correctly from a backuped version.

Please help!
