Our Edge server isn't able to deliver email to one particular domain. It
lists a generic "dns query failed" error as the cause. Now here's the weird
part.... The domain we're sending to has two MX records, one of them is
valid and the other is not (they claim their ISP never removed the other
record.) The bad record has a weight of 10 while the good one has a weight
of 5. Why is Exchange fixated on the one bad record with the higher weight
when it seems like it should disregard it for a lower cost record anyway?
Is this something specific to Edge servers?
More likely to be something to do with DNS. Flush the cache on your
DNS server(s) and see if the problem disappears.
Thanks.
(*This started with our first Edge deployment. It was never an issue with
our Ex2k3 gateway servers.)
Are they using the same DNS servers?
