Re: Exhange 2003 SP2 Indexing update stuck

A workaround to calling PSS to diagnose the issue (and they may tell you the
same thing) might be to tear down full-text indexing, delete the index
files, and then reestablish it. Of course, it's possible that it might hang
up at the same place again, but you'd have learned something, I guess.

It had completed a full index months ago and everything was fine until
recently. I have let it run overnight with the same result.

It seems as if it is stuck on one item (or something like that).

Thanks,
Bob

How long does it do this? Have you allowed it to finish a full indexing
to
see if it calms down?

I have found that my full text indexer has become stuck.

I have it set to update every night at 10:00 PM and over the weekend it
never completed an update. The CPU usage for mssdmn goes to 100% for 5
seconds (or so) drops to 0% for a ocuple of seconds, back up to 100%
for
five
seconds, back down etc. (like a sin wave).

When I try to pause or stop the indexer it does not work. I can stop
the
CPU usage by halting the Microsoft Search service.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Bob
