Does anyone know of any alternatives?

Brightmail will only work on another server acting as an smtp
gateway.. we want a same box solution that will perform about as well
as Brightmail does.

GFI Mail Essentials and GFI Mail Security are the two best software
products I've every used.

The Barracuda is the best appliance I've used.

Many firewalls, and you should have one, offer anti-spam solutions also.

Unfortunately it appears GFI isnt a solution for 2007 exchange if
running everything from the same box.. it requires the SMTP service.

And how does Exchange 2007 not have a SMTP service?

Support for the industry leading messaging platforms including Microsoft
Exchange 2000, 2003, 2007.

I also took a look at the premium antispam (symantec mail security)..
it appears to have better spam protection than the defaults, but
doesnt offer any ways to do keyword allows.. ie: if subject or text
contains.. "bob product" then allow this email to go through, useful
if your company has certain keywords and you want to make sure those
emails come in without being flagged as spam.

Symantec is crap, I moved all our customers to GFI from Symantec a
couple years ago and it's been so much better - they create their own
rules and they are able to train the system without me.
