Re: XPOST: Replicating Exchange Server

Not sure what you mean by synchronized - do you want the server at the remote location to be able to service existing users and replicate a Storage Group from the current server to the remote server for site resilience? Look at SCR when SP1 becomes available (beta available to TechNet and MSDN subscribers).

You can also use CCR over a WAN, but the node in the remote location will be passive and you'll need to stretch the subnet over the WAN if using Windows Server 2003. The latter will change with the release of Windows Server 2008.

Hi Everyone,

We currently have a centralized network which included a single domain
exchange server (2003 Enterprise).

Remote users connect via OWA or Outlook 2003/2007 cache on secure
connections (PPTP or IPSEC).

Due to expansion on one of our offices (we are in NY and this one growing is
San Diego) and the fact that connecting remotely is slow we would like to
install a 2nd Exchange server that will be sync with the existing server.
The plan is to upgrade the current server to Exchange 2007.

Now, what are my options to keep both of them synchronized? Is clustering
the only option?

If Clustering is the only option ... Dell recommended a 2nd server at each
location for the purpose of mail transition ... is this necessary?
