Exchange Calendar issues...permissions related

So we've got two users, the manager and his assistant.

The manager shares his calendar with his assistant; she's set up as a
delegate and has publishing editor permissions.

The manager, unfortunately, was on MS Entourage and recently switched
over to iCalendar.

This brings me to our issue.

There are a few recurring calendar items that change on a regular
basis. They are distributed to about 12 people. These items were
originally created by the assistant.

On the assistant's calendar, the meeting in question states that the
manager is the organizer, and hence she can not change anything.

On the manager's calendar, the meeting in question states that the
assistant is the organizer, and hence he can't change anything.

I've viewed the mailboxes in question using Outlook 2003 to eliminate
any Mac weirdness.

Two questions.

1. Is there any way to edit this item? Say, by giving a third
account permissions the managers mailbox? I've thought about giving
the assistant owner permissions, but I wanted to double check out of
fear of causing more damage.

2. If not, is there a way to delete the items within Exchange
itself? I thought about using exmerge, but I don't believe it can get
down to a single series of events? Or can it?

Thank you for any help or direction!

- Mike
