The only way to create a group name is to create a distribution or security
group and name it. Is that what you mean? You create a group in Active
Directory Users and Computers, and under Exchange Tasks give it an e-mail
address if you want it mail-enabled. If you can't mail-enable it, then you
need to install the Exchange 2000 Management Tools on the console on which
you're running ADU&C, and to do that, you run Exchange 2000 setup and select
only the management tools. Don't forget to apply the service pack.
You cannot create groups in Exchange System Manager.

We are running Active Directory on Windows 2003 server and Exchange 2000
on Windows 2000 server. We want to add a group name in Exchange. Can we
go to Active Directory for Users and Computers to create a group name or
do we need to use Exchange Administrator to create a group name? If we
create a group name in Exchange, does it also create a group name in
Active Directory?
Thanks.
Diane
