- If you're not in a very security-concious environment, it doesn't matter.
- Nevertheless, there's a reason why Distribution Groups and Security Groups exist, and it makes sense to use them as such, unless reducing group management overhead is a concern, and security requirements not as stringent. (Membership of mail-enabled groups can easily be determined, and if access rights/privileges/permissions assigned based on these groups... )

I have searched and searched and can not find a answer. Does anyone

Basically, what is the dis-advantage of having just mail enabled
security groups ?
I know security groups are for resource access and DL are meant to be
for Email. But when you mail enable a security group it has the same
function as a DL, so therefore why use DL's ?
