RE: Public Folder Permissions Not Propagated to Copied/Moved Folde

Thanks, Robert. I've used that wizard to propagate Public Folder permissions
before and it works well. However; I don't want to have to push down
permissions whenever a user copies a folder to the Public Folder tree. I was
hoping there was a hotfix for this. I've pretty much accepted the limitation
and am now looking at training the users to:
1. Create the subfolder, then copy items from one folder to another. Created
subfolders do inherit permissions from the parent, even though moved or
copied folders do not.
2. Copy the folder, highlight it, then go to File > Folder > Copy Folder
Design.... to copy the permissions from the parent folder.
I wish it wasn't a manual process. The good news is, it doesn't seem to be a
problem with Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007.

Hi Rick,.
Thanks for posting in our newsgoup.
To change the permissions for all of a hierarchy of public folders at the
same time:
1. Start the Exchange System Manager program, and then locate the top-level
folder of the public folder tree that needs a uniform change in
permissions.
2. Right-click the top-level folder, and then click Properties.
3. To change the top-level folder permissions, click the Permissions tab,
and then click Client Permissions.
4. After you modify the permissions, click OK.
5. Right-click the top-level folder, and then click All Tasks.
6. Select Manage settings and click Next.
7. Click Overwrite setting and click Next.
8. Click Setting click Next.
9. Click Finish.

If you are using Exchange 2003 SP2, the "propagate settings" option is not
available in ESM.
Hope this helps.
If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.
