there are lots of things you need to monitor, or have monitored for you by
something:
yes, check event logs on a regular basis;
check all messaging queues;
ensure online maintenance is completing;
ensure backups are completing nightly;
ensure AV dat files are current;
monitor available diskspace;
ensure all Exchange services are running at all times;
ESM is the tool used for many administrative tasks in Exchange 2000/2003;
for troubleshooting issues, you may need to also use tools such as ExBPA,
PFDAVADMIN, MFCMAPI, telnet, or Outlook, itself. There are many types of
problems that can occur...good idea to do some reading in this NG for common
issues. For an smtp queue problem, there could be many causes. Most issues
will generate events in the application event log, and you can always
research those even IDs on Microsoft's support site, or on Google...
In Exchange 2007, there are other tools to use, as well, for common
administrative tasks...

Hello,
I've got 3 simple questions :
- I would like to know what are daily tasks for Exchange
Administrators?
To check the SMTP Queues, to check logs, to check the Event
Viewer...?
- What are main tools used for Exchange Administrator?
For example : Winroute? Exchange System Manager?, ...
- Which are the principal daily problems and how to fix it?
For example : a problem with a SMTP queue, ...
I hope that you can understand my question. Thanks for advance.
