Re: OWA 'domain'\'username' required at login

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

AFAIK, putting \ in is the same as putting the domain that the server
belongs to in.

so if I put \ Exchange will check all the domains for the user account.
If I
put A domain name then Exchange will only check user account aganist that
domain?

\ doesn't mean you can only use UPN logon, it just means use the domain
name
(instead of the server name) if no domain is specified by the user. I
think
the ability to use UPN is defined elsewhere (in Active Directory), and
OWA
in E2003 will just use that setting.

Thanks, Lee. I have another question. I have been reading some
articles
about this logon issue. Like you pointed some said to put "\", other
said
to
put actual domain name. Some said "\" is used if you want UPN logon.
In
our
lab someone set it up early this year both FE and BE are set to use
Basic
Authentication. In Default Domain it's the domain name. When I tested
OWA,
it works for domain\username, username, and UPN. But I was expecting
logon
failure with UPN. Any idea? I thought UPN is enabled by default with
FBA,
right?

When users log into their outlook web access (exchange 2003) they
have
to
enter their username with 'domain name'\ before it.

Is there a way to remove the need for this and enter a 'default
domain
name'
somewhere in exchange?

Thanks

Try setting the Default Auth Domain for Basic Auth. For E2003, this
is
in
Exchange System Manager, under Servers/Protocols/HTTP . Look for the
properties of the Exchange Virtual Directory. The Default Domain
should
usually be set to \ , but may sometimes need to contain the actual
domain
name.
