Re: Exchange Server Error 9175

I have a backup solution back in place now and the logs are clearing now as
they should. But I still see a problem with the Information store becomes
unavailable at times... And in my efforts to resolve this, now I am unable to
see discriptions of my error messages in the a event viewer... Each entry
now starts with the statement

The description for Event ID ( 9551 ) in Source ( MSExchangeIS Mailbox Store
) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer.
You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see
Help and Support for details....

I could use a clue as to what I did and how I might correct this problem too.

Hi,

You need to start by solving the backup issue.

If the transaction logs aren't purged you are not getting a backup you can
restore.

A full backup of the exchange information store with an exchange aware
backup should purge the transaction logs.

If Arcserver won't run try to use ntbackup and see which events are logged
in the application log.

I am running an Exchange server 2003 that has been upa nd runing without
problems for almost a year... I normally backup uwing ArcServe 11 and
everything has been running smoothly. About a month ago, my ArcServe
Started
failing to be able to access ad backup any of the exchange components.
Exchange continued to run smoothly. Last weekend I found that all
messages
incoming and outgoing were hung in the "Local Delivery" Queue. Further
investigation showed that all of the Exchange Logs in the "D:\Program
Files\Exchsrvr\MDBDATA" folder were not being deleted and had filled up
the
harddrive to within a couple of MB...

I moved the older logs (more than a months worth) which gave me several GB
of disk space and on restarting the server the mail Queue worked itself
down
again.

Since then (4 days now) I have had twice that I am receiving the following
error and again all messages are being held in the Local Delivery Queue
and
at the same time users get a "Disconnected" status on their Outlook 2003
client:

Date: 5/16/2007 Source: MSExchangeSA
Time: 5:10:18 Category: MAPI Session
Type: Error Event ID: 9175
Discription:
The MAPI call 'OpenMsgStore' failed with the following error:
The attempt to log on to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer has
failed.
The MAPI provider failed.
Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store
ID no: 8004011d-0512-00000000

If I stop and restart the Information Store the system seems to take off
normal again and all is good, but of course this is not a solution to the
problem. Can anyone give me a better long term solution please?
