Re: Old EXCH server in ESM

Thanks Rui,

I needed to go a step further and do an advanced find b/c the ADUC showed
only mailboxes from the current exch server. In the end it was just some exch
attributes hanging off some shop floor accounts and not actual mailboxes.

Once I remove the attributes I should be able to purge the server from ESM.

Thanks to all that replied.

Start Active Directory Users and Computers. Menu View > Add/Remove Columns
and Add Exchange Mailbox Store. Browse your OUs and find where are the users
that still have the mailbox on the retired server (even though they didn't
ever had a mailbox, the AD property still points to that server).
Right click those users > Exchange Tasks > Move Mailbox.

That shoul do it!

That was the first thing I tried (several months ago) with zero success.
This
time however I was treated to the following popup message from ESM:

The Server "SATURN" cannot be removed because:
- One or more users currently use a mailbox store on this server. These
users must be moved to a mailbox store on a different server or be mail
disabled before uninstalling the server.

At least this is something to go on. Question is how do I reveal those
user
mailboxes from a server that has been gone for quite some time? There is
no
mailbox store available when expanding the server only Queues (none),
First
Storage Group (empty) and Protocols.

Thanks for the help.

When I open ESM on my Exchange 2003 server I can see an old Exchange
2000
server that was decommisioned a couple years back in the server list.
How
can
I prevent this object from showing up in ESM?

TIA
