We have an Exchange 2003 setup which up until recently worked
correctly. Unfortunately it now seems to take anywhere from 1 hour to
12 hours to receive email from an external address. Sending email is
completely normal and instantaneous. The Exchange installation is up-
to-date and everything I could think of appears to be working
normally.
The physical setup is that the firewall redirects traffic on port 25
to the email server through a crossover cable from a port on the
firewall to a second NIC on the Exchange server. We have Symantec
installed on the Exchange server as well. This server is the DC also.
Ewww!
So, where is the delay? Check message headers in Outlook, mesage
tracking in ESM and enable SMTP logging.
