We do an offline once per month - as well as an online every day.

and NtBackup starts:

The ESE API returned Unable to perform the operation. Either you can
not connect to the specified server or the service you are trying to
connect to is not running. from a call to HrESEBackupRestoreNodes()
additional data 'servername'

Is that normal behaviour?

If so, will adding "sleep 30" after Exchange is shutdown solve the
problem?
