Thank you for the reply.
The service provider maintains the PIX and they cannot disable the "fixup"
command. I also had the SMTP connector use HELO instead of ELHO.
After investigating with a packet sniffer, I found that if I send messages
with attachments over a couple of MB's in size, the connection resets and
it
tries to send the email (with attachment) again. This is like an endless
loop
and consumes upload bandwidth. It may get 2.16MB into the transfer then
start
all over again connecting the same or alternate SMTP server for the
domain.

Hello,
We are having trouble with certain messages deliverying to other
domains on
the Internet. A telnet test from the Exchange server to multiple SMTP
servers
(mx3.hotmail.com, etc.) show the following and will not accept HELO:
220
****************************************************************************
********************************************************************************
********************************************************************************
**********************************************************************
I understand this is because of a firewall issue. My question is: Why
does
some mail deliver correctly and other mail sits in the queue... unable
to
make a good connection to the receiving SMTP server.
