Re: Changing partition sizes on exchange box

Check with the vendor some vendors support reconfiguring partitions on
raid volumes, but you need to check with them to make sure that your
raid card is supported.

Yes you can move your page file to your other partition safely, only
downside is you don't get full crash dump, but I wouldn't worry about
it.

Moving the Paging File
1. In Control Panel, double-click System.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Click Settings under Performance.
4. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Change under Virtual
Memory.
5. Select the new drive that you want to use to store the paging
file.
6. Set Initial Size (MB) and Maximum size. For the initial size,
Microsoft recommends that you use the recommended value in the Total
Page File Size for All Drives box.
7. Click Set, and then click OK twice.
8. Click Restart Now.
Note that if you move the paging file from the system partition,
Windows cannot write debug information to the disk if a Stop error
occurs

I recently took over as an exchange admin for a small company. The
exchange box running wind serv 2003 and exch 2003, has the scsi drive
partioned as follows:
c(system): 8 gigs
f(data): 60 gigs

now this box is strictly an exchange server and only holds the
exchange database. I need to free up space on the c drive because i
only have 400mb free. At first i was thinking about something like
partition magic but i do not know if that would work on raid? Then i
was thinking i can move my page file to the data drive. By doing this
i should be able to free up enought space. Is there any harm in moving
the page file or does any one know abything about partion magic and
raid.

thank you,
