did you select "Information Store" for the backup? that's what you need to
do...or you're not getting an "online" backup...is the tape drive directly
on the Exchange server? if you enable circular logging, you will be very
sad if your server crashes or you need to restore a mailbox store/storage
group...you will be missing all data since the last backup was taken...how
long had this server been running without online backups being taken?

Is there another way to clear the logs? Which backup utility would you
recommend?
The way I did it was,
Start ntbackup then I select MS Exchange server and then I selected
full, but after it completed the logs were still there is there
something else I need to enable or disable?
Thanks,
.
