How do I setup he recovery server?

I have a spare 2003 server box, do I just put exchange server on to that and
restore the database file into the mdsdata directory and then run integrity
tools? Does it have to be the same organization or can it be a stand alone
server.

Thanks.

I have a user who lost all their contacts, the only problem is I only have

Questions:

1. Is there a way to do this?

Do you have deleted item retention set on their mailbox store?
If so and its under the time limit, try :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886205
"Deleted items are not available after you use "Recover Deleted Items"
in Outlook 2003"

and check the dumpster under the contacts folder.

I assume you cant recover from their deleted items folder or the
dumpster under that.

For future reference:

2. I have started using exmerge to create pst's on indavidual mailboxes
about once a week to prevent this in the future, is this the way to go?

If you are using Exch 2003 or 2007, then no. You can restore to the
recovery storage group instead and recover the calendar from there
with exmerge.

Thanks for your wisdom.
