DNSconfused <jamie.elkins@xxxxxxxxxx> typed:
POP3 clients timeout when connecting to our Exchange 2003 server. If
the same POP3 client tries to connect from our internal network it
works great. If I try to telnet to the Exchange server on 110 it will
connect but never return a banner from the Exchange Server. I can
telnet to the server from our internal network and the banner is
returned. Could this be a sign of DNS problems? I don't have any
errors in the eventlog to indicate a DNS issue. I have also had
problems trying to telnet to my personal ISP hosted email server from
inside my network.
Any help is much appreciated.
Have you tried using your public IP address?
What's your public / internet domain name?
You wouldn't see DNS errors in your internal/AD DNS if you had problems in
your *public* DNS, note.
