Re: Question on KB926666 which can lead to KB932599

Andy,

I am a little confused so I will try this again and perhaps explain myself a
little better.

Does the 926666 update have a uninstall option? As I said in my earlier
email I did not notice anything about this option.

I understand that once you install KB931836 (Cumulative time zone update) on
all desktops and servers they will start reading the proper time. Now, my
understanding is if we let things go as is in 2007 and not apply any of the
Exchange or Outlook side tools to adjust the time for appontments and the
like. In 2007 we will be off by one hour. Next year Outlook will work
normally as this update will fix that side of things. Of course Outlook
2007 corrects this problem already. If I am incorrect please correct me.

Now when it comes to KB926666, this fixes certain issues that are part of
OWA. Will this issue go away next year or would we still have this issue if
926666 is not applied? Again I would guess that Exchange 2007 has this
issue fixed already.

My last question. Is there away to determine if we are going to have a
problem with 926666 without installing the update? As you well know not all
uninstalls work all the time, if there is one for this update. I would
prefer finding out and investigate to see if we can install this update
before installing and then having an issue. From your response, it sound to
me that a lot of people are having issues with this update and it's a flip
of the coin type of thing.

Thanks so much for your help and patience in this matter and your insight.

Hi Anyd,

Sorry I did not notice anything about uninstalling this hotfix. I know at
times some updates/hotfixes may not be removed. I have looked over 926666
and nothing is discussed about uninstalling that I can see.

If we install the server update will this issue be fixed after DST is over
or will this issue reoccur every DST?

It appears that every new hotfix that has the new store.exe will have
this issue, but if you apply KB 926666 and the stores mount, then it
shouldnt bite you again.

Thanks for your input in this matter and help

Good Day,

After reviewing all the updates, I was getting ready to install the
desktop
and Server updates KB931836 and low and behold I noticed a issue with
KB926666. The issue is that you may have a Store.exe problem after
this
update is run. My Current Store.exe is 6.5.7650.28 which I believe I
updated when we went to SP2 for Exchange 2003.

My question, is there a way to determine if we are going to have an
issue
with this update before we install 926666? It looks like after this
update
is installed and you have a problem, the whole store is down and there
is
no
simple way to fix it.

Can we not apply 926666 and wait until the end of the DST time and next
year
the problem is over like the desktops and servers if we apply the
server
and
desktop updates?

The KB tells you how to resolve. Or just install the hotfix.

oops. I mean Uninstall the hotfix!

Thank You
