Re: Exchange Server 2003 Stress and Performance Tool (ESP/MEDUSA)

Just an update - I found my problem. It doesn't appear that the included test scripts are designed for use in a Front-End/back-End OWA architecture. If I use the scripts pointed directly at one of my Back-End mailbox servers, the test script functions as advertised.

Good morning,.
I have been trying to use the ESP tool to determine the actual load our Exchange front-end servers can sustain (number of concurrent sessions), but I am having a few issues within the sample scripts provided with the tool (OWA_Large.txt, OWA_Medium.txt, & OWA_Small.txt). I can get a connection from the ESP host to the front end server, and can see the GET requests processing in the ESP log file. The two issues I see are:
- In the ESP log file, whenever an action verb (Such as POST, PUT, PROPFIND, etc) is issued, there is a response HTTP/1.1 440 - Login Time Out, Connection Closed
- In the ESP console (I have Send Notifications enabled on the DAV Module), I receive errors:
MEDREP_ERROR: Unable To process the script command Error Code 0x80070057 VT_EMPTY
MEDREP_ERROR: Unable To find the value for the variable Error Code 0x80070057 VT_EMPTY
MEDREP_ERROR: Failed to replace variables in the request body Error Code 0x80070057 VT_EMPTY
MEDREP_ERROR: Unable to find the response header value in the header response Error Code 0x80070057 VT_EMPTY
And in the ESP log File (Starting in the CHECKMAIL section):
rror: Unable to find the value for the variable, resp Error: xml
2007/01/23 09:42:37:005,ltcy , clnt 0, cmd Error: Failed to replace variables in the request body, resp Error: SET $name1$ $xml
2007/01/23 09:42:37:005,ltcy , clnt 0, cmd Error: Unable to process the script command, resp Error: Unable to process the script command
First: let me apologize as this is a cross post from the m.p.e.misc group:
I've tried to edit the $xml$ variable, I've verifed the XML files included in the OWASuite are correct, I've tried disabling Compression on the Exchange Virtual server on the FE server, I've turned of Forms based Authentication, running the script directly against the Back-End Mailbox server, etc.
When i login to the test mailbox using OWA on the Front-End server, I see no issues.
If anyone has any ideas or knows a solution, i would be most appreciative!
Thank you in advance
