Envelope Journaling not showing BCC

Exchange experts,
I'm a bit confused about the correct implementation of envelope
journaling...
I run Exchange 2003 Standard and have configured envelope journaling to
an external contact (3rd party archive company). I have an SMTP
Connector to the 3rd party. I still don't see plain BCC recipients
when searching the 3rd party's database. Every now and then I find a
message that was sent to DL BCC (Distribution List?) but none that were
sent to a manually-typed BCC address.
I read about the JournalBCC registry key but I removed it from my
registry after seeing that it did not help. In fact, I read somewhere
that message journaling with BCC is different than Envelope Journaling,
which I believe is the one I'm trying to achieve.
My questions are:
1. Does it matter if my Exchange server is a back-end server?
2. Can envelope journaling work directly to an external account? Is
it possible that I need to journal to an internal mailbox and then
forward it to the external journaling contact?
3. How do I do that without altering the original P1 information?
4. Is it possible that the mails are journaled properly and my provider
simply cannot display the BCC header? I don't think it's an option,
but can I somehow verify what headers are being sent through my server
before they get to the provider?
5. What am I missing?
My archiving company confirmed that journaling to a contact and
enabling Envelope Journaling using EXEJCFG is all I need to do but I
doubt they know anything about Exchange server.
Please let me know if you need more information.
Thanks in advance,
Dotan
.
