The authenticated users option doesn't work in our environment because
the SMTP virtual server is set to "Resolve Anonymous E-Mail". I
remember this now. I have a test environment set up and used it to
confirm that switching this on causes the "Only allow from
authenticated users" option to be ignored. I recall running into an
article on the web somewhere discussing this. This server was
originally configured by a consultant who would have been the one to
turn this option on. I'm fully aware that it is recommended to NOT
turn this on so I'm inclined to turn it off. However, I have a nagging
worry that it was turned on for a reason, perhaps to allow for some
wierd mail issue/setup on the network that I am not familiar with.
I'll have to research it.

- Other options from previous post are still still available, including
Recipient Filtering.
