Thank you for the reply, but unfortunately, it is still not working.
I have
added another SMTP connector for orders.domain.com using the
exchange server
as the local bridgehead. No SMTP connections are logged on the Mac
Server and
when trying to force connections for the messages sitting in the
queue
Exchange reports "The Remote Server did not respond to a connection
attempt."

Obviously I'm missing something in my setup. It's probably really
simple too.

I'm not sure if this would help, but see if you can add a subdomain
for 'orders' in your forward lookup zone for domain.com. Then add an
A record for the mail server, and an MX record that points to it.
