Do you have smarthost setup on SMTP virtual server?
If yes, remove it and set it on SMTP Connector for address space *.
This will ensure messages to other Exchange Servers in the same Routing
Group, or mail to other Routing Groups, does not get routed to the
smarthost.

Hello,
I have a dilema. I'm currently using or want to use a Symantec Mail
Security
Appliance 8240. According to their topology I'm supposed to forward
outgoing
mail via the SMTP smart host to the appliance and the appliance fowrwards
it
to the internet.
All this works very well, however I have 3 exchange mailbox servers and
when
sending email to a mailbox hosted at one of these remote servers the
message
ends up in the "Messages Queued for deferred delivery" folder and
eventually
fail.
I'm assuming it is because the server is sending ALL emails to the
appliance
instead of sending the local mail directly to the other servers.
Does any one know if there is a way to tell exchange to send local email
directly to the other servers and yet send external email to the filtering
appliance?
Thanks.
