Re: SMTP using SSL with authentication - problem

PL,

Maaan... this is weird...! I created a third test account and it works just
fine as well... ! So now I have 2 good test accounts and 1 bad test account
+ 1 bad legit user who's complaining...
Everything seems configured right on the FE server... could there be
anything on the BE server? Shouldn't be like POP3 right? POP3 has to be the
same on both FE and BE, in fact you set it on the BE and the FE inherits the
POP3 settings it seems like. But the SMTP seems to be independent between FE
and BE servers?

Not sure what to try next!? Here is the error message: (modified personal
info)

The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's
e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'Per.Test@xxxxxxxxxx'.
Subject 'Test from home using POP3/SMTP', Account: 'DOMAIN - PerTest',
Server: 'mail.domain.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '454 5.7.3
Client does not have permission to Send As this sender.', Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 454, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

HELP!

Thanks!!

Check:

Client submission SMTP VS in ESM:
1. Basic with TLS/SSL enabled
2. Anonymous is disabled
3. Port 25 for TLS, Port 587 for SSL (they are not the same for SMTP....)
4. Sender Filter, Recipient Filter, Connection Filter, Sender ID Filter
are
unchecked
5. "Allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay,
regardless
of the list above" Unchecked
6. Both Users has same permission in the "Permissions for submit and
Relay"
dialog box

Outlook Express:
1. Correct username and password are entered (for some reason, you may or
may not need to use email/UPN as the user name)
2. "My server requires authentication" is checked under "Outgoing Mail
Server

Help!

Setup POP3/SMTP connectivity on this FE 2003 server, plus only allowing
authentication and SSL for these users.

Tried to setup a test user using Outlook Express, and the test user was
able
to sucessfully recieve and send emails.
Setup a second user, with same privileges, and this user is able to
recieve
(POP3) emails, but not able to send emails?!
Get a 454 error, but this user should be able to send if authenticated,
just
as well as the first test user... !?

What could cause this kind of problem?

TIA!!
