I think you ought to focus on the network connectivity issues you're having.

If you're using cached mode, the RPC operations will occur in the
background; however, the client will maintain constant communication
with the mail server. RPC over HTTP behavior is similar to regular RPC
based (MAPI) communication.
What are you trying to achieve?
