Several years ago I set the internal FQDN as .net for security reason

All was fine until several months ago when AOL and Earthlink began to
view the .net and .org differance as a relay.
I have ensured that the MX records are pointing correctly.
The only remedy I can come up with would be to change the internal
domain to .org which would be a HUGE amount of work since each
workstation would have to be removed and then joined to the new .org
domain.
All of our printed material, etc uses the .org website so changing
that domain name isn't going to happen.
Anyone have any less painful ideas on how to fix this? Your input is
greatly appreciated. Thanks
The internal domain name really has nothing to do with your e-mail domain.
Your e-mail domain should use an MX record that points to the FQDN of the
HELO name used by your SMTP server, and you need a PTR record on the IP your
mail server uses for outbound mail.
It is recommended that you have an SPF record that gives the IP of the
servers that send mail from your domain.
Chances are, if AOL is rejecting your mail it is because of a missing PTR,
or your IP address is listed on an IP Blacklist. These can be checked on
www.dnsstuff.com.
