Thanks for the input. I checked and there are no files in the virus scan
quarantine. As the file disappared at the same time we started getting
errors about disk issues, I'm assuming somehow the file was removed
because
it was bad. I know that the e00.chk is normally there, but the time is
exactly the same time the errors started. Is it possible the e00.chk is a
disk check file because the file was bad?

I also installed an undelete program and found that the e00.log file was
not
deleted. I have also searched both hard drives and it's just gone.

Is there a way to recreate the file by running the eseutil or something
like
it?

If we lose any recent information, that is OK. These people are not
totally
anal retentive about their email. A few emails lost is OK. 99% of what
come
into this server is spam anyway. Luckily all the SMTP mail is coming in,
it's just sitting in the queue.

Thank you very much for any help you can give.

I get a call from my client this afternoon saying his Exchange server is
down. After much research it becomes apparent that the e00.log is just
missing. At the time it went missing, is the exact same time on a
E00.chk
found in the same directory, 2:26 PM. The last log file is timed 8
minutes
before the E00.chk at 2:18 PM.

There are several options out there, none of which directly address an
entirely missing E00.log file. Does anyone have any suggestions on what
I
should do to recover this file? My most recent back was yesterday
afternoon.
I'm not sure I have to go that route yet. Thanks.

Besides being eaten by A-V software, a hardware error on the disk may
have caused that. I'd be looking at the A-V stuff. Check the A-V's
quarantine, maybe you'll find it there.
