That's interesting... try sending a message from an external mail system.
(like a web-based email account) to the primary address, and see what you
get. Also do this exercise by telnetting to your internet-facing SMTP
server.

I have just done another test. We have 2 SMTP addresses for each user.
joe.bloggs@xxxxxxxxxxxx
joeb@xxxxxxxxxxxx
The user can send to the joeb@xxxxxxxxxxxx, but not the primary address.
I have double checked the logs again and the primary address doesn't show
up
in the message tracking or the logs for Exch when used.

Regardless, Message Tracking - if enabled - should show message being
delivered to the mailbox.

this is so specific that let me suspect if there is any client side

The sender does not receive a NDR
Nothing shows up in message tracking, only emails from other people
but
not
from the affedted sender.
As for the logs, I found the test message from the sender to myself
and
the
affected user, the users address doesn't show up, but mine does. Other
users
in the company are receiving emails from the affected sender

- What do your SMTP logs say (on internet-facing smtp server)? (Did
it
ever
make it to your organization?)
- What does message tracking say? (Did it ever enter your Exchange
Org?
Does
it say if the msg ever got delivered to the mailbox?)

We are having issues with one user not being able to receive
external
form one specific company. This has happened after we moved his
mailbox to
a
different Exchange Server. I have deleted his mailbox then purged
it
and
recreated the mailbox but this made no difference. The sender
receives
no
NDR
messages. I have sent the affected user test messages from other
domains
which he received. I have also received test messages from the
affected
sender to the administrator mailbox on the affected domain. I have
used
Telnet to send a successful test message, I have made sure he has
no
rules
setup etc. As usual the sender say's it's not a problem with their
system.
I
can't think of anything else to try?
