Are you using a host that's directly connected to the Internet? Does your
ISP restrict SMTP traffic outside its network (some do)?

telnet moses.stphilipchurch.com 25
Connecting To moses.stphilipchurch.com...Could not open connection to the
host,
on port 25: Connect failed
telnet 66.126.247.115 25
Connecting To 66.126.247.115...Could not open connection to the host, on

What's wrong with my telnet command? I'm doing this from the command
prompt.

It looks fine for me. I see your Exchange Server's SMTP banner.

The server name is moses.stphilipchurch.com. Thanks!

I'd be happy to look at it if you posted your e-mail domain name.

Yes, the name is the same for both inside and outside the LAN, and
it's
the
same name on the MX record on my ISP's DNS server.
When I do a telnet to say port 80, it works.

The external host name need not be the same as the internal host
name.

Hmm... I tried to do a telnet servername 25 from within my LAN
and
I'm
able
to communicate with my mail server. But when I try to do the same
thing
from
the Internet, I get a connect fail. But I don't really know why?
Wouldn't the port need to be open for my mail server to be able
to
receive
Internet emails (which is transfered using SMTP). DNS MX record
for
my
domain
points to this mail server and we are receiving emails.
But yes, right now my Relay Restrictions have "All except the
list
below"
checked (list is empty).

Sorry... my mistake. I simply enabled message relaying and it
works
now.
Let's hope you don't mean that you'll let /anyone/ use your
machine
as
a SMTP relay!
