Checked boxes
Anonymous access
Basic Authentication
Integrated Windows Authentication
Unchecked boxes and empty fields
Resolve Anonymous e-mail
require tls encryption
default domain
Users button
Authenticated Users are allowed submit permission but denied relay permission
Question
How does the smtp server know what domains to service.
the domain of the email does not match the domain of the server
but the user does have the correct domain for the email in his email-addresses
if i rememver correctly 5.5 used to have an area to indicate the domains
that are to be serviced but i don't see that in 2003.
Is that the problem ?

RPC/HTTP really doesn't have anything to do whether or not your server will.
accept inbound anonymous mail.
Go to the properties of your default SMTP Virtual Server, Access Tab,
Authentication tab, and make sure that Anonymous is set. This needs to be
enabled (it is by default) in order to receive inbound mail from any other
mail servers. If Anonymous is checked, please reply back with what boxes
are checked in that window.

I have set up an rpc over http proxy on the same box as our only exchange
server. Configured excahnge as rpc over http back end server.
the rpc over http works great internally and externally.
The problem is that external (from other people) rerouted mail (port 25)
from the router sent to this server does not drop into the persons
mailbox..
instead the sender gets a cannot relay error message.
if a message is sent using the rpc-http connection ... it gets to the
right
person.
am i missing something
can a exchange server setup as an rpc-http back end server only receive
from that interface and not the smtp
any one have this problem
thanks
