Re: Error when entering sender filter addresses

There is a limit to the number of filtered senders you can enter. I forget
what it is, but seems like it was around 850 and I think that partially
depends on the size.

That being said, IMHO Sender Filtering is not the most effective way to
implement spam prevention as much of the spam you receive is never from the
same address twice. A small percentage of it is, but most is not. I
strongly recommend you start with the IMF and enable Recipient Filtering and
filter recipients that are not in the Active Directory. That would be a
good start.

Hello!

I have a new SBS 2003 with SP1 iinstalled including Exchange SP2 and all
other updates curent as of 3 days ago. (sbs2k3 standard)

Yesterday I started receiving an error message when adding email adresses
to
the Sender Filtering as described below.

Under Global Settings / Message Delivery / Sender Filtering I've been
adding
SPAM email addresses. Just today I have seemed to have reach some kind of
limit. I have around 870 addresses so far. When I add a new email address
to
filter and click on Apply I get the following error:

The administrative limit for this request was exceeded.
Facility: LDAP Provider
ID no: 80072024
Exchange System Manager

When I click OK and then Apply again, the message does not come up again,
so
it seems to take, but it seems that some of the previously entered
addresses
are dropping out on a one in--one out basis once I hit this "limit".

I am curious if anyone else has seen this before or knows what the actual
limit for addresses is and just what is going on? And can I extend this
limit?

Thanks in advance for your help!
RobK
