Re: Outbound to one domain won't flow

I did the logging, but I don't see where an outbound connection is made to
the domain in question. I did find a problem, though. Our next level up,
the state, hosts our external DNS servers. They recently replaced their
servers and thus their IP address is different. I found that the external
DNS setting in ESM was still pointing to the old servers. Once I added and
moved to the top the new servers, mail seems to be flowing without any
problem. Thanks for your help.

No problem, to enable smtp logging,

1. In Exchange System Manager, in the console tree, expand Servers,
and then expand the server on which you want to enable IIS logging for
SMTP.

2. In the console tree, expand Protocols, and then expand SMTP.

3. In the console tree, right-click Default SMTP Virtual Server, and
then click Properties.

4. In the Default SMTP Virtual Server Properties dialog box, on the
General tab, click Enable logging, and then click Properties.

5. In the Extended Logging Properties dialog box, go ahead and
checklist all the options

6. Click OK two times.

Now force the connection in the queue.

7. Go to start run, type logfiles in the run box. Go to SMTP folder.
Open the logfiles. Search for the telnet session to this domain and you
can paste the session here so we can take a look at it.

I'm running my telnet tests from the exchange server itself.

Are you running all your telnet test from the server itself or from your PC?

I have a lot of mail in my queue going to a state mail server that will not
go out. I can successfully telnet to the server on port 25 and manually send
an test message via telnet. It comes back as message accepted.

When I look in System Manager, it says that the remote server did not
respond to a connection attempt.

I'm at a loss. Anyone have any ideas?
