Ok, I knew about that one.
Thanks for all the answers Dave.
I will configure a staging environmet to test the HMC on.

No you can just navigate to the Offline Address List container, right
click
an OAB and rebuild.

Or where you thinking about dismouting/mouting the Mapi public folder
store?

Ok, I see.
It looks like I have to speed up the process of moving to new hardware
and
take a look at the HMC.
You mention running the OABGen manually. Is there another way exept
waiting
for the "normal OAB generation process" to run(as you describe in you
blog)?.

The problem that you have is that you have to let the OAB run on
schedule if
you are self hosting. When you self host, the RUS is enabled and all
permissions are set by you.
In HMC the RUS is disabled and so is the OAB, this is where the web
administration tool comes in to play for creating new orgs and
users.
Then
you run the HeOABUpdate to force that process so it can search for
new
objects that need to be created. You will only be able to run
HeOABUpdate on
the HCM solution as when you install it special groups and accounts
get
setup. When the tool is ran it runs under the special account so it
is
allowed to work.
Right now your best bet is to run OABGen manually to create that
data
when
you need until you are on HMC fully.

Hi Dave
We do not run the true hosting solution from Microsoft yet(Hmc
3.5).
I
have
now registered and are in the process of downloading the solution.
I have made a self host with corresponding scripts to automate the
hosting
process. This is not a huge hosting enviroment yet, but in the
future
we
will
move to another hardware platform and then it would be natural to
implement
the Hmc 3.5.
So if I download the solution and install it on another system I
can
extract
the HeOABUpdate.exe for use at my system.
Do you know if that is possible?

If you are running a true hosting solution and not trying to self
host
you
should have it. You typically create your organizations through
the
web
interface and then run that tool to force an oab generation.
Search your entire server for He*.* and see what the results give
back.

I googled HeOABUpdate.exe but could not find a download link.
Is this something you have to call Ms Support to get?

Thanks Dave
This looks very promising. I will check out the blog and the
tool

Since you are using Hosted Exchange (HMC solution) you can
use
WinAT
to
schedule the HeOABUpdate tool to run when you want. If it
finds
any
new
org's it will create the OAB for you.
The OAB folders (OAB Version 2, OAB Version 3 and OAB
Version
4)
only
get
created when the OAB generates.
If you want more information on when the root OAB folder
gets
created
in the
information store, you can see my blog: Generating a newly

I want to speed up the creation of a spesific Offline
address
Book
in
public
folders.
Exchange system manager > public folders > right click &
view
system
folders
Offline Address Book > "name of OAB"OAB version2
OAB version3a
OAB version4
Normaly the creation off the sub folders(version 2, 3a &
4)
will
happen
during the maintenance interval of the store(true?)
I want to be able to trigger the creation off the
subfolders(version
2, 3a
&
4) for a spesific OAB("name of OAB").
This is a hosting enviroment with several companies on the
same
Exchange
server.
Is this possible?

K
