Re: I think I messed up big time... v.Delete Administrative Groups

Basically, my goal is to remove the Administrative Group entirely, and
then re-create the cluster and just put that server instance in the
default First Administrative Group. My biggest concern was bringing
the server up with the same name when it already "exists".

So, I guess, with what others said, I can just "delete" the old
Administrative Group and be done with it?

What are you trying to achieve? If you are planning on rebuilding your
Exchange environment, you can proceed with the rebuild following the
steps below.

Rebuilding an Exchange Member Server
To rebuild an Exchange member server, you must:

· Reinstall your Windows Server 2003 operating system (if you cannot
start the server) and other software applications.

· Restore the System State data.

· Run Exchange Setup in disaster recovery mode.

· Restore the Exchange databases.

If you do not have the system state, then do not proceed with the
disaster recovery switch. Delete the server through ADSIEDIT and
perform a fresh install.

To make a long story short, we had an Exchange 2003 SP2 Clustered
Server in an Administrative Group. We had a catastrophic failure of
the hardware, and now we have an Administrative Group, that still
thinks the server is there. This is the only server in the
Administrative Group.

As of right now, this entire Exchange 2003 environment is not in a
production environment.

If I select the server, the ESM will freeze for a second then just hop
up to the Org name. Not allowing me to right click and delete.

I am totally lost. I want to get delete this Administrative Group, but
I have no idea how to get rid of the server in order to do so.

Can someone give me a hand? Help!

Thanks,
Chris
